Looking for a famous painting?
I was reading this book called Vidalia in Paris, and it describes this painting, that I think sounds just beautiful. It's called 'La jeune fille a la licorne' or 'The Young Girl and the Unicorn" This is how it explains the picture-
"A girl sat on a patch of green grass. She had long brown hair that fell in soft curls over her shoulder. Her heavy purple dress was embroidered with gold. Her head turned slightly to one side as she looked down at her lap where a small goatlike unicorn rested its head. The animal gazed up at her, it's long horn crossing her torso. Her hand, fingers outstretched, wrist delicatly bent, stroked it's neck. The grass of the clearing where they sat rose steeply behind them to a dark thicket of trees. In the top left corner an icy, bluish cathedral seemed to hover over the scene."
For some reason I can't find a picture of this anywhere, so just a link to a picture or something would be great?
Lady with Unicorn - very famous image of submission in the Middle Ages. There is a very famous series of tapestries in the Museum of the Middle Ages in Paris. If you google 'Lady with unicorn tapestry' loads of sites will come up. There are variations on this theme, so you might need to look through them all to find the one that you recognise. I think there is also a Victorian painting (at least one) on the same theme, but I can't remember artists' names.
